When Will You See Results, and How Long Will They Last?

Juvéderm results are generally visible immediately after treatment, although swelling can temporarily affect the initial appearance. The treated area should be reassessed after the swelling has improved and the filler has settled.

Results may last approximately 1 to 2 years with optimal treatment, depending on the formulation and treatment area. For example, lip and smile-line treatments may last up to 1 year with certain products, while JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA® XC cheek results may last up to 2 years. Individual results vary.

Smooth Lines and Restore Volume With Juvéderm

Over time, it’s natural for our faces to lose a little of that youthful plumpness, leading to deeper lines or thinning lips. Custom Juvéderm® treatments by Dr. Nicole Schrader gently replenish lost volume, smoothing out folds and enhancing your features for a beautifully natural look. Understanding Bruising and Side Effects

Temporary injection-site reactions are common after Juvéderm treatment. Their severity and duration can vary depending on the product used, treatment area, and individual response.

Most injection-site reactions improve without treatment, although some may last longer than others. Contact the practice if symptoms are severe, worsening, unusual, or persist longer than expected.

Post-Treatment Care and Recovery

Immediately After Treatment
Mild swelling, redness, tenderness, or bruising may occur. A cool compress can be used if recommended by Dr. Schrader.

First 24 Hours
Most patients can return to work and normal daily activities. Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, excessive heat, and unnecessary pressure on the treated areas.

Days 2–7
Swelling and bruising should gradually improve. Temporary firmness or small bumps may be noticeable as the filler settles.

After One to Two Weeks
Most temporary side effects have resolved, and the treated areas should appear more settled. Contact the practice if symptoms worsen or last longer than expected.

What to Expect During Your Treatment

The treatment is nonsurgical and physician-administered. During the visit, if it is your first time, Dr. Schrader will discuss your medical history before starting. She will then apply a lidocaine numbing cream to ensure maximum comfort. Using a fine needle, the JUVÉDERM® XC gel is eased under the skin to fill the soft tissue of the dermis, adding volume instantly.

What Makes Juvéderm Different?

JUVÉDERM is a collection of injectable fillers made with modified hyaluronic acid, a substance that adds temporary volume beneath the skin. Different formulations are designed for specific facial areas and concerns, including the lips, facial folds, cheeks, chin, temples, jawline, and under-eye hollows.

All products in the current U.S. JUVÉDERM Collection of Fillers contain lidocaine to help reduce discomfort during injection. The formulation Dr. Schrader recommends will depend on the treatment area, the type and degree of correction needed, your facial anatomy, previous treatments, and your aesthetic goals.

Juvederm Frequently Asked Questions

Results vary by person based on how the body metabolizes the injections, but Juvederm typically lasts for a period of 9 months to one year. The manufactures note that the HA products may last 6-12 months.  However, certain areas of the face, such as the lips will have faster volume depletion due to their movement.  Each person is an individual, so predicting precise longevity is difficult.

Juvéderm is a collection of hyaluronic acid fillers rather than a single product. Each formulation has particular approved uses and is selected according to the treatment area, facial anatomy, degree of correction needed, and the patient’s goals. All Juvéderm fillers contain lidocaine to help reduce discomfort during injection. Results and duration vary according to the formulation and area treated.

If you usually bruise with injections, there may be bruising with Juvéderm injectable gel. If you take apirin or ibuprofen every day, or if you supplement with omega 3’s, fish oil, or garlic every day, you should consider stopping those a few days before your appointment. If you do have bruising, it is fine to use cover-up makeup to hide it and it should completely resolve within a few days to a couple of weeks. If there is bruising, it does not diminish the effect of the Juvéderm injectable gel.

The Juvederm procedure is very fast, and the actual injections generally take around 30 minutes. If this is your first visit with Dr. Schrader, you will need to allow for additional time before the injections are administered to discuss your medical history. Dr. Schrader will apply a lidocaine numbing cream to make the application more comfortable, and will have cool compresses for you to take home and apply to the treated areas if necessary.

Most of Dr. Schrader’s patients are able to resume daily activities or return to work the day of treatment as there will be minimal swelling. In order to prevent a greater degree of swelling and bruising, it is advisable to avoid aspirin or ibuprofen containing products for a few days. It is also a good idea to avoid exercise other than walking for 24 hours following treatment.
